The Cape Otway Centre for Conservation Ecology

The Cape Otway Centre for Conservation Ecology

At Cape Otway, early in the morning, the gum trees are ethereal, their white gnarled trunks floating in the mist. Then the still, silent dawn awakens to a thousand birds singing as the sun rises to another perfect day.

The Cape Otway Centre for Conservation Ecology Public Fund is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the research and rehabilitation of Australian wildlife and their ecosystems, thereby increasing understanding and enabling measures to be taken to preserve and protect our vulnerable native animals - now and in the future.

"In the end we will conserve only what we love, and we will love only what we understand" Baba Dioum, African Ecologist

Understanding is the first step towards ecological conservation and the Cape Otway Centre for Conservation Ecology is dedicated to supporting and facilitating research and implementing solutions to the challenges which face Australia's fragile ecosystems. All projects have clear conservation outcomes which can be adopted across the Australian landscape. Our researchers are passionate and committed to preserving Australia's precious natural heritage.

Conservation is also important at an individual level and through the operation of a wildlife rehabilitation centre The Cape Otway Centre rescues, treats and rehabilitates injured and orphaned wildlife so that they may be released back into their natural wild habitats.

The Great Ocean Ecolodge lies within the grounds of the Cape Otway Centre - to visit the Great Ocean Ecolodge website please click here.
